Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino opened for business with a "splash" in 1999. Heading the grand opening of this four-star hotel were the newest aquatic attractions in Las Vegas, the lobby and casino aquariums. With the assistance of ICM, Klai Juba architects were able to incorporate several beautiful aquariums throughout the newly designed four-star hotel.
The largest aquarium of the two is located in the grand registration lobby. This aquarium is 4.5 meters square, 3 meters tall and holds 46,177 liters of saltwater. Its massive size was determined by Mandalay Bay's desire to display a shark exhibit in the lobby. |
