ICM was awarded the contract to provide turnkey design through commissioning for the aquariums featured in the Burj Al Arab Hotel, the first 7 star luxury hotel in the city of Dubai, UAE. This impressive hotel was designed by WS Atkins. The design was to create a structure that looked like a giant full sail sailing in the sea.
The hotel features three aquariums totaling 264,950 liters. The largest aquarium is an oval shape, 13 meters long and 7.5 meters wide located in the center of the hotel restaurant. The aquarium was designed to be a stunning predatorial tank with sharks. The two remaining aquariums are located in the hotel entry hall enhancing the ambience to the spectacular hotel entrance.
These aquariums can be enjoyed by people in the dining rooms as well as customers in the lobby. They are visible from both rooms, yet provide a privacy shield between the lobby and dining room. |
