Entrance to the five-star resort's disco disguised as ancient lost civilization.
The discotheque at the five-star Mardan Palace Hotel is unlike any other. Complementing the resort's luxurious overtones and desire to provide guests with one-of-a-kind experiences, the disco offers more than a place to dance the night away; it offers guests the opportunity to experience a "lost" Cambodian habitat before they enter the Jungle Club disco. ICM spent several months in the design, construction, installation, and putting the finishing touches on the exhibit, which is part of a comprehensive ICM project that includes an aquarium complex and swim reef.
The club entrance is fashioned similar to the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia, with marble animal gargoyles standing guard at the door. Once visitors pass through the entrance, they have an unobstructed view of a tropical animal habitat from behind a glass wall from the upper level down into the environment, or, may choose to enter the enclosure directly and walk through the "lost" civilization.
An elevated walkway encased in glass bisects the exhibit. Because the animal habitat is designed to support spider and squirrel monkeys, this walkway prevents visitors from interacting with the inhabitants and keeps unwanted trash, smoke, and other debris from entering the exhibit. The wooden-planked walkway has a thatched roof and leads visitors over a small river that flows from a waterfall to the front steps of the ancient ruin in the primate exhibit.
Facing the walkway on one side is a two-tiered waterfall with a catch pool, heavy tropical foliage, and intricate rock formations.
On the other side of the walkway sits the entrance to "ancient ruins" of a Cambodian temple. Gargoyles, much like the ones outside the main entrance, stand guard at the faux temple entrance. Artificial trees and trapeze lines dot the landscape on this side of the walkway: the perfect playground for the spider and squirrel monkeys.
And while the spider and squirrel monkeys play, so do the guests of the luxurious Mardan Palace Jungle Club, a disco experience unlike any other.
