The Aquatic Adventure Swim Reef is the only adventure of its kind in the region.
Swim, snorkel and feed a myriad of marine species in the aquatic adventure swim reef at Mardan Palace. Situated on Lara Beach by the picturesque Mediterranean Sea, the five-star resort offers guests spectacular, one-of-a-kind experiences: many of which were created through the ingenuity, technical savvy and creativity of ICM, which dedicated nearly three years to this project.
The only adventure of its kind in the region, the Mardan Palace Swim Reef offers guests a chance to swim with marine life in a controlled environment. Designed to provide an interactive experience for hotel guests, guides provide instruction to guests who can then swim, snorkel, or take part in feeding the marine life. Careful selection of local species ensures that guests will have a memorable and safe experience. The swim reef contains more than 1.3 million liters of saltwater and measures 900 square meters with depths varying from 1.4 meters to 3.2 meters. Natural seawater is continuously circulated from 1 kilometer off the Mediterranean coast through the swim reef in order to provide ideal, natural conditions.
This dynamic underwater adventure is part of a comprehensive complex designed and built by ICM. The complex includes the world's largest outdoor pool. Here, resort guests swim "with" sharks – safely – thanks to a clear, R-Cast™ acrylic shelf that allows them to stand and peer into the tank, just one of the five aquariums in the luxury resort. ICM also created a tropical-themed disco and animal habitat and the Waterfall Bar, a single-sided, 21,000-liter fish tank that enables guest to view colorful marine life and the shoreline in the distance.
All of these aquatic installations require a significant amount of space for the Aquatic Filtration Systems (AFS). In fact, the AFS take up nearly 808 square meters of space for the Maiden Tower tanks, 402 square meters for the swim reef, and 55 square meters for the Waterfall Bar. The complexity of the tanks also requires a complex filtration system.
As a result, the entire aquatic system at Mardan Palace is completely computer-controlled with off-site monitoring alarms and a touch-screen interface to ensure conditions are always perfect…and the resort staff free to attend to guests' every need.
